Does anyone here remember the band that played regularly at Outram Ghat? Which year did they stop playing. Also, I am curious as to why that tradition was stopped?

Apart from regular ferries you can hire a countryboat and can watch the sunset floating on the Hooghly. It will cost around 150-200 INR per hour. It is a really soothing experience, in the cool breeze, without the sound of the motor, see the busy traffic go by over illuminated twin bridges on two sides.But don't expect a life jacket or any automated navigation systems in that boat. But it would certainly give you to the real local feeling as it was centuries ago.
