Bhui Tulsi (Sage) looks like this:

Supercategories: Sage
Latin names: Salvia officinalis

Similar terms in other languages
Konkani: संयासि (sanyaasi)
Marathi: kammarkas
Punjabi: sathi

Could this be correct?! This looks more like a translation of sage the person than of sage the herb !

Sounds like someone used a software translator. i'll ask a Kashmiri human for the name in Kashmiri (but I don't have the script)..

The botanical name for sage is Salvia Officinalis. It grows around the Mediterranean. (Greek name - faskomilo.) It also grows sparingly in India:

As to where you, tumparc, might find it in Kolkata, I can imagine you would find dried sage imported perhaps. But fresh sage might be difficult to find. What were you planning on using it for?

Here I am quoting the above article:

Quote:
Hindi : Salvia, Sefakus
Malayalam : Salvi tulasi
Bengali :Bui tulasi
Panjabi :Sathi

Arabic : Mayameeah
Chineese : Shu wei cao
Czech :Salvej
Dutch :Salie
French :Sauge
German :Salbei
Italian :Salvia
Spanish :Salvia

I can bring some dried sage ... I think I'll be in Kolkata after Diwali. If that will help, PM me.

Go over to New Market, all grocery shops stock dried Sage, Parsley, Thyme etc. You may be lucky to find fresh herbs too.
