Vagabundo's picture

On the right there is a photograph uploaded by vagabundo with a building that looks typically Calcutta-Georgian but has these signs on it

कार्यालय

भारत की कम्युनिस्ट पार्टी …

जिला कमेटी वाराणसी

and

भारतीय ट्रेड …
वाराणसी …

Kolkatawallahs, please, how do you explain this. Has the CPM District Committee fled Varanasi and found refuge in Kolkata?
The signboard on the right seems to be for a CITU* office but also with the coda "Varanasi".

*Kolkatawallahs should know the difference between the AITUC and the CITU!

There can be many theories to it I have a photo taken in Vietnam; of a (few) poster(s) in Bengali denouncing American intervention in the region, how did that land up there ? ...

One could make a holistic theory out of it... In the meanwhile make the Kolkattans can go and re-sgoot the exterior of the building for varification ?

Right. As we all know, that's infallible, it costs nothing, and we've never seen it going awry.

You guys and with all due respect are putting yourself to shame.

The comments and also with that pic of Vagabundo's would seem to suggest he were intentionally setting something up.

There is no suggestion of that, so may I suggest this just be dropped. It's way below any IndiaMike standards, as far as I can see. (And I am now reporting it to that effect.)

What insane idea was it anyway to start a thread entitled "Someone's pic"? It would be clear to see that this would be asking for trouble, wouldn't it? Vagabundo is a very new member and for all I've seen trying to give it their best, is this a way to welcome them? I am disappointed. Besides, how could you hope to start a thread on "anyone's pic" and that not being taken personal? Come on. You'd be sure to get an earful if you did it to me, unless you came up with some very good grounds to do it. The above doesn't look to qualify for that, rather it seems to be some of your usual useless pedantry. Yes, I can recognize it since I engage in it too often.

I'm very willing to accept Golghar originally meant it in good spirits, but this obviously can go nowhere. So let's drop it.

My opinion in the meantime: Who blurdy cares where the pic was taken, or where the poster may have thought they took it about a decade ago. Is it worth this entirely stupid stuff?

Since vagabundo has "Liked" Golghar's original post, there does not seem to be much grounds for complaint!

But, tell me, nycank, why you are dissing the Greek Football team?

I'm sorry, but if people "liking" a post is going to be taken as a sign of anything, then may I suggest we get rid of it forthwith. (I never much liked it anyway.)

It tells you nothing, Vagabundo is quite new, I noticed him (her?) discovering the "like" function here and so making use of it, perhaps just to express their thanks for being answered at all. It again tells you nothing.

A good function with the "like" button would be what you liked in a post. You see, across a couple of paragraphs, this may be quite ambiguous.

I am in the meantime getting more than a little tired of all of us wannabe half-baked DIY psychologists thinking we can "read" the other over the web.

Machadinha, you've got a point. I actually assumed this Golghar dude was doing something nice by opening a thread. That's why I "liked" it now I am not pretty sure about it, his intentions, at all... I really did not expect this to be a viper's nest. I have been going to India every year without anybody's help so, if necessary... just please delate my profile. I am ok with it. I will survive.

Hi vagabundo,
I think Golghar's intentions were anything but unkind. He just wanted an accurate label! But it is not so very important in the vast scheme of things. If you have a complaint, kindly talk to the mod team, via the Reported function (the red triangle at the bottom left hand corner).
