Piracy in Kolkata markets

I was wondering if there is a big piracy scene in Kolkata like some other asian cities? Is it possible to buy pirate computer software or movies anywhere in Kokata?

You certainly can in Chennai --- Burma Bazaar; goods, software, movies.

I'm sure every Indian city has its equivalent

yes , go to Chandni Chowk Electronic Market,
its near Chandni Chowk metro Station.
VCD are mostly of Indian Title but you get
popular hollywood title also, though I have
not seen much of Pirated software like I saw
in Indonesia.

Thanks for that, I'll check out Chandni Chowk Electronic Market.
I thought pirate computer software might be more popular, given India's emerging IT influence. Looks like I'll have to pick up that kind of stuff in Thailand or HK.

You don't have to go to exotic locations to steal software, you can do it in the seclusion of your own home, this d.i.y. solution has an additional advantage cutting out the middlemen/gangsters, their fleas AND saves you money. Get your CD images and warez via a binary newsreader .... just invest in a good anti-virus program, and other security bits and bobs and freeload to your hearts content ... you know it gives the delicious thrill of mild naughtiness without the dangers of P2P ... as 'Miki the Dip' says good pickin's abound when punters haggle for their counterfeit thingies ...
