| peaceful nature spots in Calcutta Hi all, I was looking to spend a part of Sundays / maybe some mornings at a nice peaceful spot in the city. Any suggestions? I know of Victoria, Holticultural & botanical gardens. Maybe 2-3 places in the city and a couple within an hour's drive? Also, would love to know about a couple of nice places by the water. Thanks. |

| You can try the following places : 1. Taki (by the side of Ichamati River) ... There is also a Bungalow at an Island there (Machranga Dwip) 2. Gadiara 3. Henry Island 4. Barackpore 5. Deul Park Resort ... near Panagarh |

| Within Kolkata, I would suggest the Lake in South Kolkata, Robindra Sarovar. Peaceful gardens for a walk or picnic. Strongly recommend in North Kolkata a visit to Belur Math, one of the most tranquil places in the city. Also, another oasis of greenery are the Jain Temples at Badridas Temple Street.

| Thank you for the suggestions. Have been planning to go to Belur Math / Dakshineshwar. Will check out the Jain temple and Rabindra Sarovar and get back. Suvadeep, I'm assuming all these places are outside Calcutta? Time for me to start googling these places. |
