chief61,
In this years Flower Show, there were two stalls of nurseries of Kolkata that were selling orchids. I have the card of one of them - but need to locate it. That nursery is in Picnic Garden near VIP Bazar. They said that they have a good collection of orchid plants. Let me try to find their card (sorry, I am myself very unorganized).
Love your orchid plant. Any special care needed?

Hi Kausik,

Thanks for your email, please try to locate
that Business card if you can.

Best things about this flowering orchid is,
just feed with water and enjoy the beautiful
flowers , except 2-3 dry months in kolkata ,
all year around hot and humid weather is ideal
for these plants. the greatest menace are the
birds which chops off tender buds .

Cheers

Chief,

Well, I could not locate the business card of this particular nursery. So did a couple of phone calls to Agri Horticulture Society. They were very helpful and have provided the following information:
  1. The best quality of blooming orchids around Kolkata is available with Edwards Nursery in Howrah (owned by Prasanta Jana). Phone number: 9831115479 / 9831729605. This nursery is in Bokultala near Botanical Garden
  2. Agri Horticulture Society also sells blooming orchids. At present they do not have any in their inventory. They have kept my phone number and will inform when it is available. Their phone number: 24791713
Hope this helps.

Thank you Kausik for the information you gave on Edward Nursery...I went there yesterday and and collected some good species of orchids....they are simply awesome.
This year they got the first prize for the best bloom of orchids from the Calcutta High Court..
