New to Kolkata - Need Advice
Hi, i'm new to Kolkata and looking for somewhere to live, currently living in a guesthouse and would like to find somewhere safe and secure, near to supermarkets and with standard amenities like a/c, kitchen. Not too bothered about where it is as i will be getting driven to work. Is there anywhere in particular where ex pats live? or just a generally nice area i should be looking for?
Also looking to meet some new people ? Normally a sociable and active person but have not really had the chance to explore the city so far and not many people outside of work, and as i'm so new to the city i am a bit worried about wondering around in what seems like a very large and confusing city.
Any help appreciated, thankyou !

Welcome to Kolkata

Welcome to city of joy. Your staying option will depend on how long you want to stay. You have mentioned you have work here so i guess you need a permanent setup. One more thing is important here is your budget of staying. Kolkata is cheaper than most of the metro cities in India. Look for some rent based accommodation on local newspapers. Let me give you some advice, Try to find a place which is close to Central Avenue, Or Calcutta Metro Rail Stations. These places are well developed. Southern Calcutta is a better option than Northern region. Always try to take a place near a central road network. Best of luck Why Why Why I have spent so much money in traveling !
AND still I will spend SO MORE !!!!

Welcome to Kolkata !
Where are you working and how long are you planning to stay?
There are great places in Kolkata to visit.
My favourite hang outs are Pubs, clubs, lounges and coffee bars in park street and around that area.
Oxford bookstore is also a great place to read and enjoy tea.
Let me know if you need more detailed info.
Always there to help.
Cheers.
