Momos !!!
Hello Everyone !!!
I love to eat momos/dimsums. But whenever I go to any restaurant in Kolkata, even if there is "momo" in the menu, they say "it is unavailable'. So friends, please guide me-where is the place where you get momos all the time ? I happen to live in Prince Anwar Shah Road. I want the name of a restaurant with an address. I had momos in street side stalls-but I want to sit in a good restaurant and have momos, siting there. Also friends, I do not want to dish out Rupees 100 for a plate of Momos. Regards, YESLIFEISGOOD |

Walk a few paces towards Bhawanipur/ Netaji bhawan from Exide crossing and turn left at the first /second road. You will find a few restaurants in that area which you can try out.

But these are budget restaurants, so not much on ambience. One of the names that I remember is "Orchid". |

I'm stuck in the office reading this - right now I would love to be in Calcutta and would happily fork out 100rp for a plate of momos!

Just learned about momos! ~
Aha! After reading about them here, I had to go 'wiki' "momos" and they sound and look bahut svadist (very delicious) -- can't wait to try them myself when I get to India, in about EIGHT WEEKS (I'm into full-tilt-boogie mode here) - if they are as good as pot stickers, I'm already a fan! ~

Rabindranath Tagore loved momos. He once wrote a lively song about them: "Momo chitte niti nitte shawda baaje, tata thoithoi tata thoithoi tata thoithoi..."

"Life is filled with paradoxes. Our lives revolve around the merry dances of Yin and Yang; from birth to death, night to day, smiles to frowns, freedom and captivity hold hands and complete the cycle of life...."
... was that about momos?

you get absolutely sumptuous momo's there. like nayan said - the ambiance is not the forte of these places - but the momo's and soup are to kill for. please do not go all the way beyond to tangra for momo's. sheesh! Quote:

Still, you can see references to momos. "Yin and yang", for example, refers to the Buddhist culture of Tibet. Also, "our lives revolve..." and "cycle of life" are the literal ideas for which the round momo is a metaphor. (I apologize for this post. I should have quit while I was ahead.) |
