Hello
My name is Anton and I'm from Slovenia. Like few months ago I had a visit from India, very nice guy, no doubt about it. He gave me his phone number which I saved in my mobile phone but it was stolen. Now can I somehow get his phone number or even better his home address, because I want to send him some of our cultural monuments (which he forgot to take) and I can't contact him. He's more technology guy and we talked and I think he mentioned that he's using tuta or tata service provider or something like that. Do they have phonebook with home or his office address. I know that I'm new, but Google didn't give me any results, so I decided to maybe ask if somebody has a phonebook - if there is any. If there is, then I'll give his name and surname... Thanks, bye ps: Really nice forum, a lot of useful info around here |

Friendly moderator suggestion: If people can help out, please keep the actual personal details to private communication using the site's "PM" (Private Message) system, as explained in the FAQ.
Thanks.

Mobile/cell phone companies do not publish phone-books or directories. Maybe another approach would be to post your friend's city. Then if some member responds, you can PM him the personal details of your friend. If your friend is from Bangalore, then I volunteer to give it a try.
<added later> Wow threads on IM move fast. Let's see if someone from Kolkata responds.

] You can PM any of us Indians here to verify if you have got the spelling of the name correct. You can also try making a search in BSNL Directory. BSNL is the main non-private service provider and maybe your friend has an old BSNL telephone connection at home. http://www.calcutta.bsnl.co.in/directory.shtml btw Calcutta is Kolkata. |

Does India have a publicly available electoral roll where all registered voters are listed?

Sarcasim is such a wonderful virtue. Given that we know this person is in Kolkata it reduces your 600 million considerably. I would be interested to know shashank's plan of attack.

kolkata electoral roll/voter list
http://ceowestbengal.nic.in/AcNoMatr...district_id=11 unfortunately, it seems to be areawise, not consolidated. But still searchable within each area. |

That's amazing!
But very, very many people in India are not registered voters. A voter's card, like a ration card, is a pretty precious thing and can be hard or impossible to get. Democracy in name... (but that's a whole other topic).
