| Kolkata Tour with my Family Hi All. I am planning to visit Kolkata. I will reach Kolkata by 12th January Morning and my onward journey is Howrah to Puri by night train. So I will have almost one day in my hand for exploring kolkata. Again I will be bak in Kolkata on 16th Jan morning and my retun journey to Guwahati is on 17th. So will get some time on 16th also. I will be travelling with my 2 year old naughty kid, my wife and my mother-in-law. So I need suggestions for my Kolkata tour covering some interesting destinations. I have decided to visit the follwing places but don't have a idea about the itenearary. - Belur Math,Botanical Garden (on 16th as it will be closed on 12th), Science city, Victoria Memorial,Indian Museum, Missionaries of Charity etc. Or will a Local Tour for the day will be sufficient ? If it is okay then I will take the tour on 12th. Tell me how much does it cost per person or where I can book a local tour ? And of course a ride in tram & Metro. Will try to go shopping on 16th. | Hi Jyoti, Who said that Belur Math is closed on Saturday 12th. You can go before 12 noon or post 4 pm as per your choice. Re Botanical Garden, I really don't have any knowledge. But it was open on a Sunday when we visited that place. Regarding 16th, don't take any risk since pilgrims from Gangasagar will be returning on that day and it will very chaotic. Better try to cover distance tours on 12th. Take a hired cab or train from Howrah for Belur Station. Or take bus for Belur. Otherwise you can go first to Botanical Garden by a cab and then to Belur. But remember be there by 12 or post 4. It all depend where you stay. Regarding other area you can visit in a day. For Rosogolla, you can try from K C Das ,Esplanade. Happy visit. |
