Kolkata-Sunderban-Kolkata Itenarary

I've got 2 days in Kolkata before I head to Siliguri. I was thinking of doing the Sunderban trip courtesy WBTDC, and looks like my luck is good on the dates - they have a 2D/1N on the exact dates I'm in town (May 17/18).

Only one question: does anyone know when these motor launch tours (MV Chitrarekha) and the associated bus rides bring us back to Kolkata? I'm hoping to take an overnight a/c bus to Siliguri (can't afford the flights

) and can't figure out if I'd be able to make it to Esplanade in time for one.

Hmmmm….. I do not have personal experience of this WBTDC tour but generally they come back at evening. And you have an overnight bus journey…… very tight schedule !!!!

Somnath, thanks for the tip. I spoke to the WBTDC folks (had to actually do the do-you-know-someone route and finally found a friend-whose-cousin-knows-a-director

) and hear the tour gets back around 8-ish. Seems a bus ride is definitely out - looks like I'm headed to Sikkim by a late afternoon plane the next day...

If you've heard of anyone who hires cabs out for a one-way trip to Siliguri, and might be willing to start a bit late, I'd be interested in hiring for that night so I can get that half-day extra in Gangtok.

Hi amateur,
I am sorry I do not have such contacts (I mean it is really long and overnight journey and only trusted contacts can be recommended). Personally I’ll never opt for cars. If Tatkal is not available plz go for bus not cabs.
