Kolkata sightseeing

Hi.
I would be in kolkata mid april for half a day on my way to sikkim. My flight reaches in the afternoon and have to catch the darjeeling mail in the night.
Need advice on how to spend the half day that I have. We would be three families with kids. Any good family restaurants near the station.
Also on my way back on 1st May I have the full day in Kolkatta as i arrive early morning and my flight is a 10 in the night.
Would i need to check into some hotel if I want to do sightseeing during the day. Any good budget hotel options. Also how would the weather be. Is it advisable to do a full day sightseeing in May.

Kolkata will be hot & humid in May. So moving around whole day after your Sikkim trip won't be comfortable specially with the kids. So taking a room for the day would be a good idea.

Jyoti da is right. After Sikkim trip it will be painful. So you can come towards airport - there are some hotels. Take rest or let the kids to take rest (you can go for sightseeing or shopping) and then catch your flight.
