As you know, KMC is not known for its efficiency - the construction work is running years behind schedule.
I'm glad I saw the College Street book market as it was, three years ago. Can someone provide a link to a photo of the new mall, and any remaining book stalls, as they appear in 2012?

Well, I don't think the existing College Street book market (including the used book shops) is going anywhere! The new book mall is supposed to have new bookshops with more space for better display, -- on the lines of the annual book fairs, -- just permanent. At least that was the impression given when the concept was floated by the then government a few years back.

Dear all,

As posted earlier, i took my family for a lunch at Kasturi, the famous Dhakai Kusine hotel in Kolkata. We had Kachu Pata Chingri - a dish straight from heaven. Along with it we took Lote Varta, Mochar Ghonto, Prawn bata (meshed fried prawn), Shorshe Hilsa and Vapa Hilsa along with Moong Dal, Bhat and alu bhaja. The dishes were delecious barring Hilsa preparations - they added too much of ground Coconut. As a result, the preparations were sweetish - absolutely obnoxoius to taste. after floating in knee deep water in the streets, the bad taste of Hilsa preparations were definitely a dampener.

If you are coming from Bidhan Sarani to College Street Signal, Take a left turn (Going straight would lead you to Coffee House).
Immediately after the left turn, cross the road and come to the opposite footpath. Cabin would be in front of you right at the corner.

The original Kasturi outlet is at the crossing of Free Scool Street and Rippon Street. Old days there used to be a cinema hall called Yamuna there. It is verynear to that. Now they have opened another outlet near Bullygunge Place. This place is very cosy compared to the Free School Street one.

If you go to Free School Street, you will get at least two more Bangladeshi food outlets - One is Randhuni and the other is Prince. Their food are also good. These days, owing to car parking crisis, I generally avoid going to Free School Street joints.

I am also from Hooghly like you. My native place is near Magra and it will be my pleasure to help another Hooghlite.

My father had served as an Additional District Judge around 94-95. Even I too have a bit of attachment with Chinsurah.
