| Lord of Kalinjar | been there in '93, and tons of books, but seemed mostly on the technical side. A great place for buying your textbooks in bulk, though, unless it has changed in 10 years

| If you do buy a lot of books, investigate the special Indian postal rate for books. It is much cheaper than ordinary post but you have to leave part of the package open so the postal officers can see its all books. I buy technical books in India, a book which costs $80 or more at home can be had for $5 or less in India. Perfectly legal, India is granted special dispensation to make copies and they are sold 'For Sale only in India', its OK to buy it there and ship it home. |

| Kolkata book fair inaugurated Kolkata book fair inaugurated TIMES NEWS NETWORK[ TUESDAY, JANUARY 27, 2004 09:02:33 PM KOLKATA: No, Taslima Nasreen never turned up Neither did All India Minorities Forum chief Idris Ali with his band of protestors. However, there was enough police bundobast at the venue of the 29th Kolkata Book Fair to tackle any eventuality even before it was formally inaugurated on Tuesday by Chilean poet Raul Zurita. Though the lights seem to have got brighter this year, the 'ground' reality continues to remain the same. "Why can’t the organisers do something about the pathways between the stalls,” retorted an angry visitor as she stumbled on the uneven surface. The handful of visitors on the inaugural day managed to raise enough dust to put a cavalry charge to shame. Chile being chosen as the theme for the fair, the inaugural ceremony had more to do with Pablo Neruda and Latin American literature than about the event itself. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/a...how/447443.cms[] |
