Internship in homeopathic hospital

Hello everyone!

Do you know a homeopath in the area?

I am looking for an internship for 3 months.

Best regards,

Peter

I would have thought that you could learn everything there is to know about homeopathy in 3 minutes, not 3 months.

1. It is just water
2. It has no effect
3. It is fraudulent to claim otherwise

There, you are now a qualified homeopath!

But there has always been and still is a big market for snake oil & bogus treatments (like chiropractic which would have stayed practically underground if the Insurance industry (here in the U.S.) hadn't discovered it could save a lot of money sending people to them instead of MDs and DOs. Now they actually believe they help people! I remember a time before they became legitimate & most people thought they were quacks. I still do--though I'm in a minority now.

India Mike is a hotbed of both good & bogus alternative treatment ideas (my most recent favorite is that eating garlic will stave off mosquitoes & avoid malaria, in India, the garlic capitol of world--the mossies don't seem to have read the article )

Anyway, the post was so vague there is no way to answer anyway.

Hi Peter, What exactly are you looking for in terms of an internship? Have you finished your training already? You probably do need to be a bit more specific in your postings to get relevant answers. I know there are plenty of internationally regarded homeopathic doctors who do programmes for western homeopaths to spend time in clinic with them. I only know the Mumbai -based ones who do this eg: Dinesh Chauhan, Farouk Masters, Dr Ramakrishnan. You might be well served contacting some of these guys to get leads.

I've noticed a few of the threads on IM that ask specific questions about alternative medicine often go off topic quite quickly with postings questioning its validity rather than answering the question posed. Hope you get some other leads. I have really valued all the excellent education I've had from Indian homeopaths over the years. Hope you do too.

Dontcha love it when people start dumb threads and then bugger off? I have a friend whose mother runs one of the biggest homeopathic clinics in Bangalore. It's not B.S., it's about health awareness and self-healing.

Don't think my Homeopathic Arnica Ointment Medicine is a watery placebo - as it claims to contain 15% arnica oil & it works fine for me.

The well-respected New York Presbyterian Hospital has a big alternative medicine program the OP can look into. I may not believe in it, but plenty of people think it has value. http://nyp.org/health/cam_homeopat.html

If they can do double blind studies to prove it works, I'm on board! I'm still waiting.

There, you are now a qualified homeopath!
1. It is not water! It is ethyl alcohol. So it is effective if you consume in quantity.
---- But then, that's not homeopathy!

2. Even if you consume in homeopathic quantities, the treatment is
always effective (by definition), -- just listen to your homeopath!

a. If your symptoms are gone, or reduced, surely.
b. If they increase, all bad things are brought out on the surface, to be cured ultimately.
c. If there is no change, the disease is brought under control.

-- So, there you go.

(Have I commited a fraud according to 3?)

Anything that contains 15% of an active ingredient is not a homeopathic medicine
in the usual sense (according to homeopathic theory), whatever it might be called! It may very well work, since there is something tangible in it.

The British National Health Service would not necessarily agree: there is a state funded (albeit underfunded) Homeopathic hospital in London.

I am an atheist. I've realised that there is sod all point in joining the god threads just to point out that what they are talking about doesn't exist!

U.K. homeopathy

I was actually dumbfounded to see all the homeopathy hospitals and websites in the U.K. I was equally surprised to see one of the most famous U.S. Hospitals, (New York Presbyterian) where kings & potentates from around the world come for treatment has a big homeopathic program.

I have to remind myself, that throughout all medical history, bogus treatments, practices & practitioners have been accepted by the majority until science finally proves otherwise.

A good example is polio, during my lifetime. Every summer when it struck, we were told to change out of our wet bathing suits and other useless things thought to prevent it. Even though it was discovered to be a virus & not a bacteria in 1908, they didn't know how it spread. The virus lives in the intestinal tract & it's mainly spread like the ones we fear today--fecal, oral. It's a fascinating history but I won't bore you here. If you want to read more about it, since polio is still a problem in India, here is a link.

http://polio.emedtv.com/polio/how-is-polio-spread.html

A good enough reason to make sure you get your polio booster shot before you go to India!

Then you must be absolutely speechless in India!

As far as I know, there is only one state-backed (and available under the NHS) homeo hospital in UK. There is, however, considerable interest in it as an alternative/complimentary therapy.

Yes, I'm always speechless in India!!! There's so much bogus stuff I feel like I'm experiencing life in the middle ages (sometimes).

I just noticed that the OP posted his question under the Kolkata forum....now I feel bad saying he was vague as apparently, that's where he wants to find his internship.

Well, I can't help but then again, I never could!
