Hello, from the airport to Kalighat? Is that the journey? Well, if you go by taxi it will take you around an hour I suppose. If you go by public transportation a lot more.
Dakshineswar is much nearer to the airport, at a guess a twenty minute rickshaw ride. Some Kolkata experts will be along to help you I am sure.

As you would be going to Kalighat temple, I assume that it will be during daytime or evening. Unless it is a holiday, there will be traffic on the way as you would have to cross some of the busiest parts of Kolkata. It might take anything between 1-2 hours from the airport. If you are traveling early morning or on a holiday, 1 hour would be fine.

jskpunjab, There are two Kali temples in Kolkata. Dakshineshwar-20-30 min from Airport, a descent lodge available(I forgot the name) near the main gate of the temple, lane opposite the Achaar stalls. So if you arrive early during daytime you may come here first, stay at that lodge, offer your Puja, take a boat ride to Belur math in the evening. Spend night in Dakshineshwar/ take a taxi to Central/South Kolkata where you'll stay.
Kalighat- 1-2 hrs from airport, depending on which time of day you'll be travelling. Nothing much to do here. Just visit in the morning 7.00/8.00 am. Offer your puja, it may take the whole day dpending on the tithi/muhurat. If you have some time left for the day visit other places in Kolkata. |
