Going out in Kolkata
Hi everyone,
Im a 21 yr old college kid from NYC looking for some advice on Kolkata nightlife. I've just spent two weeks in Dhaka and i'm looking to unwind a bit and relax. Does anyone have suggestions on areas/streets/bars etc. to get something to drink, meet young people (indians or expats)? Ill be arriving on Saturday evening - if anyone is looking for the same thing let me know! thanks evan

Yep. Pub crawling (ok, not really pubs but still..) is a good option, though my information is dated and new pubs etc may have opened elsewhere.
And if there is some live music, go there. Calcutta has a different atmosphere then, eg Trincas on the same street. |

If you like rock n roll, try the pub Someplace Else at the Park Hotel on Park St. Happy Hour is from 4:30-8:30, and there's live music on many nights of the week. Rarely is there a cover charge and it's said to get pretty crowded on weekends. Also I have heard that the Princeton Club, Merlin Towers on Prince Anwar Shah Road is also great for rock music as well. Note, this is all secondhand information mind you - am visiting the city myself in November so this is what I've been told! Try confirming this info once you get in town.
