Go to Calcutta
Hello Everybody!!
I planing to go to India in January like a volunteer in Mother Teresa mission.... I planning to stay as long as it possible (I have a touristic visa for 6 month)but it is will be depend of money of cause. Could you be so kind to say how mach I need for one month?? I will stay in Monica House or some hotel near.... Thanks for any help and God bless you! |

I am providing a approx costing on daily basis: Fooding: Rs100 Lodging (Low budget hotels): Rs300 - Rs500 ON an average the expenses may vary from Rs 5000 to Rs 8000 Thanks, Sunny |

$250 for a month is only a bit more than US$8 per day; you should figure twice that amount. Maybe you'll have money left over, but that's better than running short.

I agree. $250 a month might be difficult. Although there are cheap options, food prices in general have gone up. So its better to plan for more cash before coming here.

Before you give up your time for mother teresa why don,t you do a little research? It is not what you think it is. I won,t go into it here, but there is lots of stuff out there that gives the other side of the story. Swiss bank accounts, people dying in pain for want of medical pain relief, and of course the reason for the place is to baptise people in the catholic faith not to help.

one way of reducing your cost of stay may be renting a room for a month instead of staying in a hotel ... the cost may be maximum Rs.4000 per month in a less posh area ...
