The European two pin variety will fit in Indian sockets

If you need more than one socket, take one of these multisocket things on a short cable (I haven't got a clue what they are called in English) and let an Indian electrician replace the plug.

Unless you really, really, really do not know how to wire a plug, do it yourself. That way you know how it was done and how safe it is.

...and yes, of course everybody should have a small screwdriver and a pair of pliers among their luggage!

...but not in their hand luggage!

That reminds me of that scandal with those late night quiz shows you get in the UK now. "Things that you'll find in a lady's handbag" was the question, and one of the answers was "rawlplugs"!

Oh god look at how they wire things into everything in Goa ! over the years its not as bad as it used to be with no plugs on anything just the wires going into the socket.
How on earth any of us is still alive i never know .

Well, I wouldn't try and dissuade anyone from bringing rawlplugs . I just don't understand why it would be scandalous? !

Yep... keep those tools in the hold baggage.

And, err, no... two match sticks is not a good adapter --- although many here continue to think so!

off-topic

They got hauled up by Ofcom for making the questions impossible. Some were utterly ridiculous: "things that are white" included
"white hole", "tartar sauce", and "honduran white bat".

That's absurd. My mother would always have had tartar sauce in her handbag --- and a few chips to go with it!

She'd have left the bat at home though.

Yes.

And both!

It's quiet tonight. It's only just about my usual bedtime, but my hours are way out with time-zone confusion.

Hi Martinez,
If you stay at Chowranghee area, visit Chandni which is adjacent to Chowranghee, where you will find hundreds of electrical equipment shops who are selling adaptors of all kinds.Chandni is on Lenin Sarani. It may cost Rs.125/- to Rs.200/-(approx.).
