Around Calcutta

Hello Friends
Lots of tourists are comming to Kolkata but most of them are transit passanger.
I like to say there are lot of interesting places around Kolkata.
One can make 1 week tour around Kolkata. It's cheap because you don't f high valued hotels and these places are not yet popular to foriegn tourist.

Kolkata- Vishnupur

Vishnupur- Santiniketan
Santinikaten- Berhampur
Berhampur - Malda
Malda- Kolkata or you may go to Darjeeling from Malda.

Vishnupur is famous for teracotta temples. Santiniketan is famous for University established by Rabindranath Tagore. Also one can enjoy nature and Santal village beauty of this area. Murshidabad is very near to Berhampur .Murshidabad was the old capital of Bengal.
Malda is also a historical place.
I am sure tourist will enjoy this new circuit.

Also Sunderbans and Gangasagara( mouth of river ganga) can be visited from Kolkata.

India Guide, I looked at your website but didn't find any itinerary or prices for your services; it would be nice to know this information.

nobody has mentioned the medieval fort of Gaur, the only major fort in Bengal.
I haven't been there, but would be interested in hearing from someone who has.

Fort William is a large ex-British fort-cum-camp right in the middle of The Maidan, Calcutta. It also happens to be the HQ of the Indian Army in NE India, and therefore they don't let you into the place. It looks good from the outside though.

Hi,
bijapuri sorry for late reply.
I mentioned Malda . Actulay if you like to visist Gaur and Pandua ( realated with Bengal History) , you must have to stay in Malda.
Berharampur is also very near to Murshidabad ( old capital of Bengal) .
