Any place within 100 kms of Kolkata?
I want to drive to any touristic place within driving distance ( max 2 HRS one way) from Kolkata and come back the same day.
Can anyone please suggest any place?
Also does anyone have any idea abt the road congesion near Kolaghat? I heard the bridge in under repair and there is a huge traffic jam due to that?
THANK YOU..

cld try shanti-niketan
Quote:
try shantiniketan - it now takes a little over 3 hours to get there thanks to the new route and super roadways - worth it ! as you can soak in the peace & greens of that place - it would be a far cry from the madding crowd of kol. There are these ample of homes that also take in house guests at a very nominal sum - let me know if you need more details Tarakeswar is a renowned place of pilgrimage and the greatest centre of the Shiva sect in West Bengal. 58 km away from Kolkata
Located 118 km north from Kolkata, Krishnanagar is on the banks of Jalangi river. It was the residence of Raja Krishnachandra, a great patron of art and culture.

Gadiara is a perfect choice
Far from the madding crowd, Gadiara is a wonderful place to recollect your emotions. Don't drive with any expectations, Gadiara will welcome you with a calm vastness. There's a W.B Tourism's guest house there, perfect place to reside in for the day. Park your vehicle there and start traversing the red street collecting the fragrance of silence and of sudden ejaculation of some known/unknown birds. Rupnarayan will always be there beside you, changing its shades and avatar every now and then.
That's very poetically written pallabi.
I was thinking of going to Gadiara a couple of years ago but haven't made it there yet. Maybe next year! It's across the river from Nurpur, right?
I must say though I'm not so keen on the sudden ejaculations of birds

What about Bakkhali????
Hi friends,
i visited Bakkhali in Dec. the place is very much peaceful (except on holidays) and many nice hotels have been set up. the boat journey to Jambudweep is very thrilling. but one should stay for a night at least.
with regards
