Ancient Kolkatta

when does Kolkatta get rid off the Ambassador taxis, the rickety trams, and the regular bandhs? Doesnt it make it very ancient ?

Anindya,

Contrary to all of your wishes, Kolkata is going back to the habit of Bandhs, and doing away with Trams and Ambys.

I was sad for months when they packed up the gariahat - golpark boulevard shops many moons ago. Just let some things be. It's what the place is about? That's it's character. What would benaras b without it's galis?

And how about renaming centuries old roads and even establishments with fresh names that got nothing to do with its history? Though that's not a very recent habit.

A city (and state) that tries to forget her history and still marches back to past?
