a day in Kolkata

We have one day in Kolkata between trains - can anyone tell us the one most stunning place they would want to see. Hopefully we can put them together to make an unforgetable day!

Go to The Rainbow School near Sealdah train station where Sister Cyril Mooney has cared for these students for 35 years...she is regarded as the second Mother Teresa. These kids are from the slums but they live & are taught at the school. It is 10 mins walk from the Mother House. It was one of the best 5 days of my life. I can't wait to get back to Kolkata.

It depends on what you really want to see ! Do you want to see sights (Maidan, Victoria Memorial), temples (Kalighat, Dakhsineswar), or just get a "feel" of Kolkata ?

Distances are not large in Kolkata, but traffic is very slow. Effective speed is about 10 KMPH. Hence it is impractical to visit distant places within the one day timeline.
