What are the taxi options for Munnar travel?
Hi Friends,
I have booked a resort-package of 3nite&4days at Munnar, along with package the resort is offering a Cab at my disposal (Indica Non-AC for additional Rs.5000/- or Indica AC for Rs.5400/-). The cab will also take care of picking me from Cochin Railway station and drop back. It will be available for all the travels within Munnar. What you guys suggest is this Cab deal worth taking or arranging the taxi by my own on an ad-hoc basis, as and when needed will be a more better & economical option? Please do suggest... Thanks... |

There is always a chance of you getting a cheaper deal if you try and book your vehicle directly. (Not much of a difference will be there though)
There is always a chance that you may get a raw deal also when you do your own booking. (Vehicle's condition and driver's conditions too matter) If you are looking for a errorless and smooth tour, then you can take the cab offered by your tour operator. I dont mind loosing a couple of hundred bucks instead of losing my peace of mind. We are going to tours to relax and not to loose our cool over a couple of hundred bucks...Right... If you ask me 5K for Cochin to Munnar, Sightseeing in Munnar (For 4 days) and dropping back in Cochin is worth it. Take Non A/c as you may have to enjoy the natural breeze enroute to Munnar and back. Above said is my personal perception and it can be debated and not accepted by others also. |

The prices quoted seem good. Much better to have a driver for the whole trip who you get to know. I would agree non A/C is better as it gets cool up in Munnar and it is great to open the windows as you travel along.

thanks for ur advice Prasad.
u said it rt, on a vacation what matters is the peace of mind than saving few hundred bucks... I was wondering if these prices quoted to me are standard or there could be a wide difference when we book it all by ourself... I intend to take non-a/c car only... after all, can't afford to miss Munnar's natural beauty by sitting in a closed a/c car.. ![]() |

Rates are fairly standard - Rs1200-Rs1400 per day is typical. You may pay a little more for a big SUV four wheel drive. The rates should include the drivers accommodation and food.
