Weather in Kerala right now

I'm off to India tomorrow. I really want to go to Kerala but I hadnt realised the monsoon lasts so much longer down south

As far as I can see it is going to be very uncomfortable and humid and mostly heavy rain right through October

Will it still be suitable for a trip? Will it just be uncomfortable for a westerner? Will boats in the backwaters run?

Are some areas different, e.g. what will weather be like in Munnar and the hills?

Will it still be safe to travel on roads given mist and rain?

Sorry for the barage of questions but I'm very unsure whether to proceed with the trip or whether to stay north for a bit longer and save Kerala for another time in the Jan-Mar season

Well i am from central kerala..
I mean the plains..
The weather in kerala has become pleasant in the last week..
The heavy downpour has finished and there is an occasional drizzle at night. But that is also rare in these two days..
The beaches have become calm..
I dont know about munnar climate right now but it should be ok right now..
The boats are running in the back waters.. There is no problem of fog in the plains but occasionally there may be in the highranges.. But still it is negotiable..
The only problem is the quality of roads in the post- rain period as some places have started to break up but there is less chance that they will be alright when you plan for january. :-)

You should be O.K. Some roads may have broken up a bit due to the rains but not a real problem and as Tittooraju has said it can be very pleasant at this time of year.
Even in February the temperature can be 32 degrees and the humidity reach 95% (that's when I return to the U.K.!) Munnar will certainly be cooler especially at night but makes a a good change from the coastal temperature and humidity.
