Wayanad is not yet on the tourist trail, though quite a few Indian tourists go there, particularly at weekends. Therefore, avoiding Friday, Saturday and Sunday is worth considering. Can't recommend any places to stay from personal experience, but these were the places I looked at online when I researched our trip to Wayanad: http://www.wayanadhomestays.com/homestaylist.html |

To Mananthavady
There are buses almost every hour from Kannur and the ticket cost about Rs 50. Plenty of lodging at Mananthavady staring from Rs 100 with attached bath and few homestays below Rs 1000. Good base to visit Tholpetty Wild life, Thirunelly and Kuruva Island. Stay at 'Tamarind' in Thirunelly run by KTDC, cost about Rs 1000 per night for double room.

hi,
we done our wayanad trip in may. for stay option, check this link. http://www.varnamhomestay.com/index.htm. this is beautiful homestay nearby mananthavady. dont miss it. owners are like relations, they prepare nice kerala traditional food.this place is surrounded by rubber plantations, paddy fields.it is a village stay. kuruva island, thirunelly temple, tholpetty WLS, is nearly located. you dont need to go to kalpetta. and also dont miss edakkal caves, pookotte lake and some falls around wayanad. |

Wayanad where to stay
Folks!
I travel to Wayanad a lot and I have stayed in many places near Tholpetty. "Thirunelli Agraharam" is nice, but there is not much to do there "KTDC Tamarind" is not where you want to stay, it is just a big concrete building "Jungle Retreat Wayanad" is excellent, it is a farm in the middle of jungle. Animal sighting is a given, you will like it there. But don't go there for 5* luxury and more often than not, their Villas are always booked! Try your luck though! "Pachyderm Palace" again, doesn't give you a feel of the jungle as the one above does. The caretaker is cool though. There are multiple ways in which you can drive to Tholpetty or Manathavadi. Go via Kabini, hopeless road, and it is closed from 6 pm to 6 am Go via Gonikoppal, drive through small villages, OK road, nothing special Go via Bathery, good road, chance of wildlife spotting is also good. If you don't want to drive, take bus from Bangalore. There are many, and most of them go via Bathery, it will cost you anywhere between Rs 175 one way to Rs 350 for AC one way. Have fun Rakesh |

give your requirements for suggestion
Hi, Wayanad is my hometown. There are number of places to stay from hotels, homestays, resorts. Esp home stays you can find many now a days. Suggestion on a place to stay needs your requirements. I think almost all are decent, some good and some managable. If you are a group and about 8-10 people then wyndale holidays is an ideal place. If just two then enteveedu is good option.

Try peppergreen resorts and they will negotiate if you say you are member of IM.Managed that deal for IMers .
Stayed there and can vouch them, quite different with an expert tracker as Manager/caretaker.Ask him to take you local forest for some animals.We,2 couple, did that. he ought to remember us as gave him a present...a full bottle.. |
