| Waynad has lots of places too see and its not possible to cover everything in 2 days time. Must see places.....I feel it depends on each persons interest in forest / lakes / mountains / tea plantations / treks etc. You can find more information regarding these places by googling the same. Distance from Kalpetta ========================= Pookote lake-12 Kms. Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary (40 kms) Papanasini- Thirunelly Temple(64 kms) Edakkal Caves (28 kms) Chain Tree(16 kms) Chembra Peak (18 kms) Kuruva Dweep(40 kms) Pazhassi Raja's tomb (35 kms) Tholpetty Wildlife Sanctuary (59 kms) Pakshipathalam(71 kms) Jain Temple (24 kms) Soochipara Waterfalls (22 kms) Kanthanpara Waterfalls (19 kms) Meenmutti Waterfalls (29 kms) Banasura Sagar Dam Cheers! |

| Wyanad If you are an archeology buff check out Edakkal Caves supposed to date to the New Stone Age. If you are into wildlife/ birding check out with the Forest Dept/ tour groups on treks/ drives in the area. |

| Has anyone driven up from Kota to Ajmer and from there to the Guda Bishnoi village near Jodhpur. SOS best road route, eating places and places where one may come by a clean loo. |

| Has anyone been to Wayanad and rented a car for their time there? I'm feeling it's almost essential. How much should we expect to pay for 2 days, and if you have someone to recommend let me know! Also, from Mysore, what is the best way to reach? Our understanding is that the train would stop in Kalpeta? Is that close to anything? Any help is welcome! |

Car transport is a must to see these places as places are spread out. Please note that for some palces, even if its 20kms, it might take an hour to reach there by car being hilly region. Cheers!

If you are Budget, you could board Calicut bus from Mysore Suburb busstand, get down at kalpetta and hire a cab for local trip as such. Not Sure from where you are trying to reach Kalpetta.. If you come from Goa / Mumbai / Northern states, you could get down at kannur and get bus /cab to Kalpetta If you come from Kerala Or Tamilnadu [Read Trivandrum/ ernakulam /Coimbatore] , You could get down at Calicut and get bus/cab to kalpetta If you come from Bangalore/ Chennai / Mysore/Andhra Pradesh , you could get down at Mysore and get Bus/cab to Kalpetta. Hope this helps Velu

| Thanks guys, I was assuming the train would reach... We will probably get a taxi from Mysore and keep it around before we head to Kochin. How much should we expect to pay for 3 days? If we take the bus from Mysore to Kalpetta, I imagine we can get a taxi from there quite easily, to visit the area? Again, how much should we expect to pay? For 2 days? We're on a budget, if you hadn't noticed...! EDITED TO ADD: I had read quickly and see lots answers have been addressed... Thank you! |

| Edakkal caves, Panamaram Jain temples, chain tree and wildlife, go for these. Include whatever else comes on the way. Check out accomodations in Vythiri region. You will be in fantastic surroundings within a forest/estate/farm area. The Vythiri resort is great but may be expensive. There are a couple of other resorts within a km of the Vythiri resort. They have poor marketing, hence easy availability and negotiable discounts on the spot. You will be just 3km from the main road and bazars, yet be in the lap of virgin nature, hilly, green with streams and waterfalls. Great walks.
