Volunteering in Kerala?

I am interested in volunteering in Kerala for 1-2 months in Jan/Feb and am looking for a place if anyone has heard/knows anywhere? I am particuarly interested in health/disability/community development/children but at the moment am keen to find anything. Any ideas?

If you are interested in volunteering with disabled children in India (specifically Kerala) you should look into the Polio Home. The website is: http://www.poliohomechildren.org/
I actually volunteered there for several months a few years back and it was a wonderful experience. If you are planning on going in January you should book your ticket to India ASAP as tickets can get expensive if you wait till the last minute.

Anju: Did you choose the type of work done or was it assigned to you? What was the nature of the work? Where there other volunteers working at the place and if so how many? Would you go back and do more volunteer work?

thanks anju! i checked out the website and it looks really interesting and really exactly what im looking for. would love to hear more about it - what were you doing when you were there? did they help you with accommodation?
