Hello,

My husband and I willl be travelling through India in March 2012 for a few months.
We will be staying in Varkala at one point and then need to move on to Trivandrum to catch our flight from there to Bangalore. Should we take the train? Or is there a bus we can take? How much would a taxi cost?

Thanks so much!
Giselle

From a verreeee dodgy memory i think i paid about Rs8oo from pre-paid booth at airport to Varkala last year. It would be much cheaper to take the train then taxi to airport once in trivandrum.

This also says Rs 800/- from Varkala to Trivandrum as of 2009 January. As of today it would be costlier by Rs 400 - Rs 500/-

Take a train from Varkala to Trivandrum. There are multiple trains in Varkala to Trivandrum daily. It takes around 35 minutes for a fast train to get to Trivandrum and around an hour for a slow all-stop train. In some trains you can't get a sleeper and so you can only book second-class, but those trains are usually not cramped.
