Unfair prices in hotels of Guruvayur.
I do not think there is anything wrong with 12 noon Check-in/Check out. Apart from it being an international practice, pre-booking the rooms will be possible only by this way, in the places where tne hotels are occupied to near capacity.
What one thinks is fair or not is influenced by position and perception - from where he sees the whole situation. The fair thing might not be Unique to all.
There are places in Guruvayoor where there is 24-hour check In/Out policy.

I have suffered this "inconvenience" in almost every hotel I have stayed in. Some advertise "24-hour check in" --- but what if the previous guest is still there? What if they did not arrive until 8.00pm, and refuse to leave until 8.00pm on their check-out day?
I have stayed three times in a mid-range Singapore hotel. Our flight lands in the early morning; the hotel check-in time is 2.00pm. On one of those occasions, we could have the room immediately, no extra charge, on the others, we completed the check-in procedures, our baggage was stored for us, and we had to wait until the afternoon.
I used to arrive at the Chennai Guest house I used in the "wee hours," and, of course, I wanted immediate bed ... so I had to book the previous night as well. No problem to me: if I want a room from 3.00am, they can hardly give that room to anyone else that night!
A hotel's policy is what it is. Take it or leave it. Hotels have to put up with visitors that want everything their way; not wanting to pay up front, wanting to be able to book rooms and not turn up, or cancel at the last minute. I think all these things are unfair on hotels!

Prasannasankar,
My post is very clear. Most of the devotees who come by train reach there are at morning around 09.00 AM. Those who come by car from Coimbatore / Trivandrum may reach there at afternoon. Most of the visitors who stay there over night, visit the temple at evening and early morning and they naturaly leave around 09.00 AM. In this situation, with 03.00 PM check in, the hotels are charging 2nights for each and every room from who reach there at morning.
You wrote "There are places in Guruvayoor where there is 24-hour check In/Out policy." False. I could not find a single good hotel which has 24 hours check in in Guruvayoor. If you insists, I could post the list of hotels.

Dear Sujith,
For anyone who visits Guruvayoor, I would personally recommend KTDC Nandhanam - the hotel is a few hundred metres away from the Railway Station and the temple, in turn, is at a walkable distance from the hotel. The prices are very reasonable, the quality of the service is very decent, so is the food. Of course they have 24-hour Check In/Out policy.
Another Hotel I could think of, is KTDC Tamarind, where I am sure you will find 24-hour Check In/Out.
Also, you may try the Guruvayoor Devaswom Guest Houses, upon where I enquired the Rules and Regulations, I was assured it was a 24 hour check In/Out.
These are the few hotels I could think of.
Your suggestion that the devotees may stay in Thrissur is an excellent one, for many tourist are unaware of the proximity of Guruvayoor and Thrissur, let alone the fact that Guruvayoor is in Thrissur district.
Please come out with the list of hotels that have 12 noon / 3 PM check In/Out, so that, fellow IMers can choose those that suit their needs.
