Trivandrum airport closures in April.

Have read on another site (sorry) that Trivandrum airport is to be closed to daytime flights for 2 months from april,- due to repair works. Can any locals out there confirm this ? We are due in on 23rd April and out on 8th May.

Do you happen to know if that's just for outgoing flights, or also incoming? Surely both? Plus when do they count daytime hours?

If this is true, I think our trip may be off once again

*edit* maybe not, our flight arrives at 4am and leaves at 5am...phew!

The following news articles confirm that the Airport Authority of India(AAI),who manages the Thiruvananthapuram(Trivandrum) Airport, does have a definite plan to close the runway for 8 hours during the day starting around April 1 to carry out extension works. However only a change in timings of flights during the daytime are likely during the two to three months required to complete the works. As almost all international flights to Thiruvananthapuram presently operate outside the planned hours of closure they shouldn't be affected at all. It would be only domestic flights which will get rescheduled to late evening or early morning hours.

The same is happening to Kochi (Cochin) and Kozhikode (Calicut) airports, it's for runway repair, but I'm not sure of the dates, and most flights will simply be re-scheduled.

Thanks for replies. We are due in at 8.30am on 23rd April, which may just be OK, but we should leave at 9.45am on 8th May. I guess we will be getting up earlier than we expected for our return trip.

Airport

All airports & flights rescheduled as monsoon schedule. Its for runway repairs. Most International flights will be flying early mornings & late nights. Check with your travel or tour operators for the changes.
If could specify flgiht details could help in this fact..

I think we wil be OK. We are flying Emirates from Dubai and land at 8.30am and depart back to Dubai at 9.45am. All the info I have seen so far suggests closure from either 10am to 6pm, or
1pm to 7pm. Haven't heard anything from agents as yet so heres hoping it wont affect us.

There is no closure of Trivandrum airport- only rescheduling. Most flights are operating to Trivandrum. The closure is only for one runway, for a few hours a day. And even this should be over within May, as the job is minor, connecting the runway to the new apron of the new international terminal.
But I amafraid the closure of the Cochin airport is going to be for longer, as the runway is to be re-topped.
