travelling help!

Hey all! My sister and I are going to India for the first time and need a little advice!
We will arrive at Cochin Airport around lunchtime on the 29th December. We are staying in Allepey and working our way back to Fort Cochi.

What is the best way to get to Allepey from the airport in the shortest time possible?
We are trying to cramp in as much as possible in our 3week trip

you can take a cab, bus or a train depending on the time/budget you hvae. If cab then best option is to ask the hotel(where u intend to stay in allepy) to send one. If on shoestring budget..if u arrive before 2.00 pm, then you can check around to get buses to allepy too. Train might be a bit of inconvinience as from cochin nearest station is Aluva and then u might have to check for trains stopping at Aluva southbound via Allepy....

thanks for the advice, the pre arranged taxi might be the way to go. I'll ask my host to negotiate prices as I dont want to be ripped off!

At the airport you can hire a prepaid taxi. It is done in small office just outside the airport and the prices are fixed.
There are more threads about this, I just remember this one, Only 4 days in Kerala - possible???

You don't need to worry about negotiating because it is fixed on a reasonable basis and need not pay anything more than what you paid.

yes you can get pre paid taxi just before exit of airport
if u have three weeks I think u can trip to athirappilly from direct airport stay one day there and back to cohin! But athirappilluy u have to travel back 50 KM back and next day ahead cochin! after cochin it is aleppy! Do u visit Munnar or trivabdrum or kanyakumari?

yes we will visit munnar but before that we are planning to stay at the riverfront resort in Kodanad to make it possible to visit the elephants early in the morning before setting off for munnar in the afternoon! i hope this is all possible. !!!

dont forget to visit the spicy indian dosas available at pai's dosa..!!
