Transportation by tourist car in Kerala
Hello friends,
Am planning a trip of Kerala for 9 days. I have done the hotel bookings by myself. Now I need to figure out the way to cover the distances and local sightseeing. Do we get cars by per kilometer basis in Kerala ? How much are the average charges for an AC/Non AC Indica & AC/Non AC Qualis. Also, some days, I may just relax in the hotel room and not use the car. How would the car charges be calculated then ? I need the car for the following transit in Kerala. Day 1 : Transport from cochin airport to a hotel in Cochin. I guess I would go by taxi here. Day 2 : Transport from Cochin to Munnar, some sightseeing in Munnar Day 3 : more sightseeing in Munnar day 4 : Transport from Munnar to Thekkady, sightseeing in Thekkady day 5 : some sightseeing in Thekkady day 6 : transport from Thekkady to Kumarakom. Now from this point I dont need the car as I would be staying at coconut lagoon for 2 nights and then in houseboat which would drop me till Allepey. From Allepey to Cochin, I wuld prefer to hire a taxi. So, how do you people suggest to deal with this kind of transportation ? |

Average running rate per kilometer will be around 9 rs for indica and 13 rs for Qualis. Since you are getting it for a few days you can negotiate for better rates.

For an A/C Indica expect to pay approx 1,400rps per day and for a Qallis approx 1,800 - 2,000rps.
These prices include sightseeing,fuel,taxes,etc. vandy ![]() |

You can also hire a car at "Outstation Rates" which are slightly higher than local rates and may be subject to a certain minimum mileage per day. However, you will have to pay the return mileage to the pick up point, if your drop off point is not the same as your pick up point.
If you are keeping the vehicle for an extended period, you can negotiate a better deal on this. Additionally expect to pay between 150 - 250 per day for the drivers 'batha' [allowance].
