Train trip from Cochin to Goa

Is it worth doing a train trip from Cochin to Goa or should I just catch a plane. Your ideas would be welcome.

Personally I would take the train and see the views plus it is a lot cheaper by train and you get to meet and talk to people on the train moreso than on a plane.

It is not a good idea to take a flight from kochi to goa unless you are really hardpressed for time. It is better to travel by train, and there are daily trains from kochi. If i am not wrong you can catch a view of the Dudhsagar waterfalls on the way.

Chinadolly is right. It takes approximately 14 hrs, but reservations might be a problem. Be sure to book your tickets in advance.

The fastest train from Ernakulam(Cochin) to Goa takes 11 and half hours - the Rajdhani express. Others like Marudhar express take around 14 hours.

Definately go by train as there are no direct flights. We took the Rajdhani Express form Ernakalum at 11.00 pm and arrived approx 9.30 am at Margao. Went first cass A/C, dont let first class fool you! but the sleepers are OK even if toilet facilities basic. Shared a cabin with a colnel from the Indian Army and a student going back to Uni. It was a great experience - Cheap too! Enjoy your trip.

We took the rajdhani express. 3 a/c was a good idea. it can get a bit hot.
But then you miss out on all the "food at the window" stuff at all the stations
