Restaurants/Beach Shacks in Kovalam?
Oops, sorry - forgot to ask this in my earlier thread!
Just wondered if anyone can recommend any good restaurants/beach restaurants in the Kovalam area (we're staying at the Uday Samudra). Happy to do a bit of walking or jump in a taxi! Thanks! |

All the restaurants along the beach (lighthouse) were good, when we went there, but there are no beach shacks, not like in Goa. Most of the food is either vegetarian, chicken or fish - no red meats. Fish is fresh, and you get a good size portion, so there is not much chance of starving.

you really need to jump in to the rikshw or walk through the Hotel Samudra and cross over the hills to reach the Light house beach (it is nice to walk, and at night when you go back there will be plenty of rikshas to take you back )
i can reccomend few resturents, Coconut grove is in the middle of the beach and it is very much reccomended for sea foods and indian foods, fusion is also good , or you can head to germen backery , or Santhans resturent , (dont try the big fish portions ) and for pure vegitarian there is only 2 or 3 places, one of them is Lonley planet, just take the side way just before the Hotel jeevan and turn left , or ask any body enjoy your stay at kovalam , Np no problem you can get red meet also ![]()

Kovalam must have changed since I was there 2 years ago, perhaps it was because we went out of the tourist season, but nowhere stays the same.
