Also look out for a nice little eatery that serves traditional north kerala snacks between Marine Drive and a street called Broadway in the city .. the place is called "Ojeen" .. it is usually open from 11am till about 8pm .. a good time to go there would be between 4 and 5pm if you would like to sample the in-numerous traditional snacks and a variety of juices and teas as well

Last week my friends went there and they were told that it's open during evening hours only.

oh i guess they tried something and it didnt work out .. they were open during the day time for a while from some time during the end of last year .. guess the numbers didnt work out

@ Alessine .. curry pot is still open and is the best place to get a nice Tandoori platter and very good kerala food as well .. ps were you staying with Cindy? (cos i see you are from basel)

Thanks for the suggestions of the great eateries. Any specific dish to try out in 'Ojeen' and in 'Pai Dosa'?

Oh well not exactly cos "Ojeen" has atleast 30 varieties of snacks on display at any given time and "Pai Dosa" has about 120 variations in their Dosas. So there's little use trying to pinpoint on something you can go by and have a look and see what might interest you

Now I plan to stay in Cochin on 16th night also and Fort House would be my bet for dinner on 16th. Ojeen for afternoon snacks and Kayees biriyani for dinner on 19th! Wouldn't be able to fit in Pai dosa it seems as it is open in evening only and we are leaving Cochin on 20th afternoon. Still deciding about lunch on 20th!
Any good place on the way to Athirappilly falls to have an early breakfast?

I don't know about Fort house. They used to have excellent food till the cooks changed a coupla years back. I wonder if anyones been there recently and had a good meal. So do check up on that before you venture over for a meal.

At athirapally there are a few small roadside restaurants. The only proper hotel is "the rainforest" which doesn't do random meals. You would have to call and prebook for them to make arrangements for meals. Which is well worth it considering the location and trhe view

I had an evening meal on the jetty at Fort House in January this year and it was great. I think I had biriyani with a couple of kingfishers watching the sunset. cheers. Zamba.

I found very good reviews of Fort House in this forum and in tripadvisor, so thought of venturing out for a meal there. I will pre-book in rainforest if I get the contact details.

sorry .. i thought i had replied already regarding the location .. just noticed the post didnt come through .. Curry Pot is in a hotel called Deshadan Plaza which is located in Panampilly nagar .. a little after the Passport office ..
