kerala is famous for ayurvedic treatments but there is a lot of wrong things going on especially in tourist areas , there is not a lot of ayurvedic centers operating only for cheating westerners . it could happen every where,
So you can try to find some one good but just take care of the following things
1, do they have a qualified ayurvedic doctor (BAMS) it is a 5 and half years course
2, is it possible to get him every day for your consultation
3, what kind of oil they use. The medicine manufactures have the best quality of oil such us Kottakkal , Vaidhyarathnam , KAPL, Sd pharmacy , Nagarjuna, Pankajakasthury , are few of them .
4 try to do only one treatment a day.
5, if some one is offering more than 2 treatments a day then definitely you r in the wrong place.
6, try to speak with them to get some idea how good r they in terms of medical knowledge
7, if you’re trying finding some place through inter net then send your medical reports to then if you have any diseases so that they can reflect on that and give you some treatment ideas and the cost .
8, if you have only 7 days then it is too short so don’t go for the oil bath Pizichil (most of the treatments are recommended for a 7 days)
9 better to use some hospitals if you r really treatment oriented, rather than massage centers that don’t have inpatients.
10, a 7 days programme may be as follows

Udwarthanam – herbal powder massage for drying the body (preparation)2-3 sessions
Oil massage – 2-3 sessions
Leaf -bundle massage 3 sessions
Sirodhara- oil in the forehead- last 3 days 3 sessions
You can get Nasyam from 2nd or 3rd day for rest of the days up to 7 sessions
One cleanising – normaly a purgation in the end

the cost
for massage treatments will be some thing like 500-700 in normal places (hospitals etc.)and more than 1000 in luxury hotels , it is including the cost of the oils ,

have a nice rejuvanation

So many guests stayed at my place has used Dhanwanthari Ayurveda Vaidyasala for treatments and general massages. There the massage is done after the consultation with the doctor and for ladies by two ladies and for men by two men.The cost of the treatments are comparitively low as the facilites are charged like local people to foreigners also. Some other sites not mentioned are also given

www.dhanwanthari.org
www.kaplayurveda.com
www.ayurgram.com
www.keralapharmacy.com

It is better to avoid ayurveda centres around beaches and tourist centres. Most of them are a couple of yearls old and they seerve only westerners.Ayurveda is not just massages it is something more .It is a way of life.Understanding the concept of Ayurveda is also important .

The best place for Ayurveda Kottakkal Arya Vaidyasala (some one mentioned before and they have a publication division .The founder Dr.Varrier has written a book called Chikiltsarathnam .The book is also available in English with the Kottakal Arya Vsaaidyasala. It has special sections regarding where to be treated and when to be treated and how tobe treated and mentions the suitable geographical locations for the treatment .According to them treatments near sea, backwaters and forests are not good.Unfortunately almost all the Ayurveda catering to the the needs of tourists are located in these places.Approval of tourism department regarding Ayurveda need not be considered because Ayur veda doctors are professionals and members of a medical council and have ethical code.So whgerever you have treatment keep with you the Doctors Prescription ,treatments taken ,as well as a bill from the institurion.

Any one going into ayurvedic treatments should also learn a bit about it before going the treatment for information on Ayurveda you can also visit the website www.thirumulpad.com Dr.Raghavan describes the real ayurveda .

Now you decide first you need a treatment .

second if you need where you are going to have

do you have some people who know in kerala whom you can trust

in case of some specific diets can you make arrange to get it

the treatments of Ayurveda is a bit of violent nature , atleast some procedures and that does not go well with the western thinking of wellness treatment .so just prepared for the experience .For msot of the people it gives benefits.Doo not glorify it
some system do not work well with soem people .Accept that .

If the names contain ayurvedic garden, ayurvedic resort all these thing s could be bit misleading .

Ayurveda need a lot of plants to make medicines .Also it is good to have centres where they make their own medicines .So some one who supports bio diversity who work for that shoulllld be the ayurveda centre
Please feel free to communicate on the above

Hi
Try a beach resort in Kovalam (Sagara ayurvedic beach resort) run by a Dr Franklin who is extremely effecient and quite popular in these parts. Mail manager/part owner Sisupalan, hiltongoldensands@usa.net Bargain and he will cave in
Cheers
