place to rent in kerala Hi,there! I'll be backpacking around southern india, mostly Kerala for 2 months -Jul,Aug 2010. My husband and I would like to rent a little "local" house for 2,3 weeks in a peaceful village on the coast where we could be more in touch with the locals and perhaps learn more of the culture. We did that a couple of times in Brazil, in very small fishermen's villages and it was great - but of course it's not the kind of thing that is advertised on internet!. Does anyone know if I could do such a thing in Kerala? Thx in advance, Ellen

July, August will be quite wet, as it is Monsoon time in Kerala. But for this reason it's also tourist-off-season and it should be quite easy to find any place to rent.

In my experience it is not easy to find furnished places to rent. You could contact the Kerala Development Tourist Corporation - http:www.ktdc.com who might be able to help.

Ask indians in your hometown Find some keralites in Barcelona, maybe they have a house in India that's lying vacant. better than renting from someone you have no idea about and that too in a foreign country. ![]()
