New year

From this year onwards Allepey beach is going to be a better preference for newyear celebrations. The highlight of this years Newyear celebration is a traditional Kerala Style "POORAM" that you could never find in Kerala around this time; with 50 decorated elephants lined up. Mega shows and cultural events will make celebrations even better. The programme is organised by Alleppey Municipality, KTDC and Kerala government together.
So I recommend you not to miss that.
The programmes begin today and will be ther till 31st.

I don't know anything about it of course, but this doesn't surprise me, as Malayalam will be the language spoken and your description of a fair vs. party sounds rather apt going by my own experiences.

I have a feeling you were looking for something more like a rave kind of affair and this probably won't be it. Good tip in any other way though, so thanks Abhilashdas.
