Need some tips on Trivandrum
Hey everyone,
I'll be spending a day in Trivandrum with some friends soon and was wondering what are the best things to see / do over there? Any incredible temples that are a must see? How is the Zoo, worth it?
Anything else that is worth checking out?
Thanks,
Jack

Hi Jack, I got their in the morning and was booked on an evening flight, so I wandered around quite a bit.
I actually went to the zoo and spent a few hours there. I thought it was really quite nice. VERY clean, some beautiful landscaping and small lakes, also people like talking to you there!
The animals are in areas that are, for the most part, spacious and quite natural.
There is a nice canteen with ice cream and stuff where you can sit outdoors under the trees.
I was pleasantly surprised!

It might be the best of times or the worst of times...but it's the only time you've got!

There is a very good update about the zoo by someone who benn there yesteday . wonderful!Sri Padmanabha swamy temple , is worth visiting morning or evening . just google , you will see news about the wealth discovered recently and the assessment of the value is going on, which will take an year or so!!
if you have time in the evening , visit one of the beaches , either the Kovalam beach or shangumugam beach
apart from this some other possibilites are , making a day trip to ponmudi hill station or neyyar dam and wild life area

But you won't be let in unless you are a Hindu, which, in effect, means unless you look Indian. Even if you do look Indian, there is still a strict dress code. Not just being respectably dressed, but specifically, for a man, no trousers, no shirts: vesti (dhoti) only, with angavestram (shawl) optional. The area is still worth visiting, though, to look even from the outside.
