Need a helping hand around Calicut / Chennai

Hey Ppl,

Leaving for India tonight, Need to know a few things - from the looks of this place, you guys seem to know the answers to my '?'s

A) I have 12 hours between in CHennai airport between my flights - what can i do there? Am on a budget and not looking at slopping away in a hotel room. Is there a flashy gadget shop around? maybe somewhere i can buy pc accessories for my kid bro for his 16th b'day

B) My flight lands in Calicut and I booked my stay at a hotel in the Calicut By-Pass road. Any idea how far that place is from 'Alamkode, Malappuram District' as in number of kilometers. and what is the safest metered taxi service available?

C) Any thing exciting happening in Calicut around the 17th to the 19th of September?

D) Any clue on the minimum connecting time for domestic flight and international flight? In Chennai, Kolkata, and Calicut?

I know am a royal pain.. but would appreciate the help

Thanks Guys..

Regards

Depending on which twelve hours of the day it is, you can do quite a lot in Chennai, in terms of having a look around. You could even drive to Mahabalipuram and back.

We're not hot on flash gadget shops, though the best of what we have can probably be found at Spencer Plazza, Anna Salai. Not far from there is Ritchie Street, which is Chennai's electronics bazaar. How far from the airport? one to three daytime hours depending on the unpredictable traffic.
