Lakshadweep off season
Hi all.
We are planning to spend a few days in Lakshadweep end of May this year. The agency we had been conversing with told us that due to it being off season water activities, including glass bottom boat are not in service. What are others experience? Does it depend on the hotel that you book through? We are recommended with Agatti Resort and Bangaram Resort. Which is better? Which would include costs of water sports or boat rides? Are there other resorts that would be better? Thank you Jennifer

I have been to the agatti resort and it's fine. It's not very luxurious or anything, but Agatti is beautiful and Lakshadweep can't disappoint. However, that glass bottom boat is a complete joke. It's a rickety old wooden row boat (but with a motor) with some greenish glass panels in the bottom that are hard to see through. It would be comical if it weren't so disappointing. When we went out on it our motor broke down and we were just drifting in the hot sun far from shore. Some other boat had to come along and pull us back to land.
Otherwise, you would want to make sure that snorkeling and diving are still available in the off season. If they're not available, you would be missing out on a huge part of the experience. Then all you could do is lie on the beach. There are quite a few threads about Lak here on IM so do a search and you'll find out lots of info and many various opinions. Good luck. |

Lakshadweep is an underwater paradise, famous for its varieties of corals, fish and other marine life. November to early May is the best time to go. You can dive, snorkel, swim or just loll around. Some of the islands offer windsurfing as well. At low tide some of the coral reefs get exposed especially in Kadmat, where we stayed some years ago, in January.
