Kochi Airport to Guruvayur?

How can I get to Guruvayur from the Kochi Airport by bus/train? I just checked the taxi fare and it is over Rs 1000. How else can I get to Guruvayur? I will reach Kochi around 8:30 in the morning.

Kochi Airport is located south east of Angamali. If you get a taxi to Angamali there will be plenty of buses going north to Thrissur since Angamali is on the main highway from Ernakulam to Thrissur. From Thrissur there are hourly buses to Guruvayur (45 minute drive).

I heard on another forum, that there are direct buses from Aluva to Guruvayur. Does it make sense to go from the airport to Aluva KSRTC stand in a taxi and then take a bus from Aluva to Guruvayur?

How much would an auto from the airport to the Aluva stand roughly cost?

One of those decisions..... I can't be sure about this at all, but you should take the following into account:

1. Angamali is around 8km from the airport. Aluva is around 15km from the airport. The rickshaw charge is Rs. 10 per km. However, you won't be able to find rickshaws in the airport area. Maybe if you exit the airport (500m walk) it will possible to find one.

2. The road from Aluva is slightly more direct, but the road from Angamali is of better quality making it quicker. However, you would have to change buses in Thrissur.

3. It is unknown how many direct buses there are from Aluva. If it is only three or four a day you may have to wait a while.

4. The Aluva route is more scenic than the Angamali route.

Maybe you can ask on this other forum how many daily buses there are from Aluva. It would make it easier to decide if it is a realistic/efficient option.

You could also go to Angamali railway station and catch a train to Trissur (1 hour), and then catch a bus to Guruvayur (1 hour). Lots of buses just outside the station, the "Chovvalurpadi" route is the quickest. If you are lucky, you may get a train to Guruvayur as well.
