Kerrala Backwater Cruise

Where is the best place to begin a backwater cruise from that will be the most authentic and not too touristy. I will be flying into Cochin. But would be prepared to get a driver to bring us to any city we would need.
Appreciate all the comments re the cruises and trying to sift thru the info!!

Alleppey.

Choose Alleppey around / Alleppey - Thottappally for one night.
Alleppey - Thottappally / Alumkadave for 2 nights.
