Kerala with baby mid September
We'll have about two weeks to explore Kerala as part of our three month trip with our baby girl..heading north for july/aug then to goa for a bit then ideally Kerala in september before heading back to goa for a wedding in october...
I've never been to Kerala so am very excited - any tips/ideas/suggestions for a rough plan/itenerary - bearing in mind we have a baby on board!? ![]() |

Guess it depends on how adventurous you want to be. Certainly an easy trip with a child might involve hanging out at Varkala and then maybe an overnight on a houseboat from Allepey. Of course, there's a lot more to do in Kerala and it depends on how much you want to rough it and what your budget is.

Considering the baby, its better to avoid trekking. Every other destination, may it be beach, backwaters or house boat cruise, I dont see any issues.

it depends on your budget.if you have enough budget then you can have a superb holidays in kerala..if u have one year old baby u cant enjoy the beauty in full.......then also u can visit the beaches, backwaters, houseboats. .etc...and there is no risk in visiting theses places.....

i think the best destination according to your description will be a house boat cruise at kumarakom ,visit to munnar, cherai beach depending on the time available.

According to me you have to sgare your two weeks between the backwaters (Allepey), the mountains (Munnar) and a nice beach (Varkala). To travel with a baby, the best way is to rent a taxi. I spent three week in march and I rent a taxi with a very good driver. If you want his coordinates, I can give it to you. He stays in Allepey bt travel all over southern India --> a very good driver + nice guy + good guide.

Where do you arrive in Kerala (Cochin, Trivandrum) ? by train, by flight ? ALAN - Paris |

Thanks Everyone!! One of my friends from university's family own a farm near Thekdaddy, so we will spend some time at their house and then also go to Alleppy etc - am sure they will be able to recommend a good driver
Funbill, we'll be hitting go around September for a few weeks - I spent a few months there a year before so know my way around, am hoping to rent the same house I did before ![]() |

Please keep a close eye on the little one in the Backwaters.
I guess she is starting walking at this point of time and will need close attention with water everywhere. Thekady to Munnar (vice versa) is spectacular road journey,Lush Tea Estates and wonderfull forrests. There are Accom Reviews for places you intend visiting in Kerala in the Hotels section. My Suggested Itinery is; Cochin - Munnar - Thekady(Kumily)- Kumarakom or Allepey - Cochin - Goa. This could also be done in Reverse.Keeping travel to a Minimum after your considerable amount of travel Before hand. Happy Travels vandy ![]() Last edited by vandy : May 21st, 2009 at 20:06.
