Kerala to Goa - first trip

Hi,
This is my first post and soon to be, first trip to India. I'm looking at starting off at Kerala and making my way along coast ending in Goa.
I'm planning to do this over 6 weeks and was seeing (a) If this was long enough, and (b) how best to travel this distance.

I'm going to have my surfboard with me, so I really want to hug the coastline whilst travelling.

The choice of travel is up to you, Train, Bus, Taxi's between places.

Google the Indian coast and you will see the roads and railways.
