Hi, mixiebug
6 days for Kerala is better than nothing, of course As for your questions: 1. 1 day for Munnar is too little, as the road takes about 4 hours, but again - it's better than nothing. I don't know your other destinations so cant advise about visit Munnar or skip it. The town is nothing special, all the beauty of Munnar lays around, and the best way to explore it - by feet or by cycle, but you don't have enough time - so if you decide to go to Munnar, you have to hire a taxi to see around. 2. I think it takes about 5 hours to get from Munnar to Kumarakom by bus, and 4 hours - to get by car. 3. What are you going to do at the backwaters? If you're going to hire a houseboat - go to Allepey, there are plenty of them, and prices are cheaper. If you want a day-trip tour in a small boat - you can as well have it at Cochin or Kollam. If you want to stay at one of hotels or homestays at backwaters - there are some at Kumarakom, Allepey, Kollam and I'm sure - at some other places at South Kerala. Have a good trip!
