| Kerala in November I am thinking of staying at the The Old Courtyard Hotel in Kochi and just wondering if I need A/C for beginning of November? Can anyone advise if this is a good idea or what the weather will be like then? Thanks |

| I was there during November 03 and stayed at the Chiramel Residency which is close to the Old Courtyard. I did not have A/C and it was not needed. Those big Dutch homes are built with good ventilation. Maybe its because the walls in your room don't reach to the ceiling. Of course, that not good if you and your partner make noises during sex. Ha. Ha. |

| Thanks, will keep that in mind! I haven't heard of the hotel you stayed in, was it any good? How did you find Kochi? We have 3 nights there before doing a backwater cruise and then moving on to Trivandrum. Was it really humid? For some reason my body doesn't deal with humidity very well. When I was in Bangkok it just made me so ill I couldn't do a thing. Any recommendations on what do to see or what to miss out? Thanks |

| Thanks for your reply Bibiana I wonder if I could ask your advice? I only have a week to spend in Kerala after spending a coule of weeks in the North. So far my itineary is as follows: Sunday a/noon - Arrive Kochi - explore Monday - Explore Kochi Tuesday - Overnight backwater cruise from Aleppey to Kollam Wednesday - travel from Kollam to Kovalam to stay at the Surya Samudra Beach Garden Thursday - Surya Samudra Friday - Surya Samudra Saturday - Depart I wanted to visit Periyar aswell but I think this is not possible to do in a day. Do you have any comments on what to do, where to go? I'm interested in temples, village life etc but don't really want to visit any hill-side towns as I feel I don't have time and dont really want to rush around, as we will have spent the last 2 weeks doing that. When staying in Kovalam we want to explore the surrounding areas, not just stay in the hotel grounds. Also, I want to book my overnight backwater cruise in advance to make sure I fit it in. Do you know of any travel company I can do this with over the net? And lastly, what sort of temperature am I looking at for the first week of November? I mean, in the evenings will I need a jumper? and will I be too hot in jeans? and are jeans frowned upon? Sorry for all the questions!!! Many thanks Natrah |

| I have found ATDC as a good option for booking backwater cruises at reasonable rates. You can book by contacting them in their webpage. http://www.atdcalleppey.com/ Once you are in Alleppey, check around for better deals and renegotiate if you genuinly got a better deal. I have not heard about many cheatings, but these guys are quite professional and trustable (if anybody is that is)

| Maha Guru Member | Courtyard Hotel I stayed at that hotel in November a couple of years ago. It's warm but it seemed like the old building had enough air circulation to be quite bearable without AC. It's a great hotel that I enjoyed so much we've reserved the entire building for a couple of nights this coming February. |

| Hi there Thanks for the mail Your itinerary looks good considering the time frame. At Kochi dont miss Kathakali programme. Contact Daniel/Jose/Mathew at ventureholidays@yahoo.co.in for your houseboat. They also organise elephant rides/bathing and feeding. This could be done after your cruise at Kollam before heading to Trivandrum. Get in touch with them They are cool Trivandrum is a temple town and you'll never have any shortages on that score The temp during day would be around 32C nights around 26C but then depends on rain Jeans is cool during the day maybe something warm at night if the temp plummets Cheers Have fun Bibiana |
