kerala in last week of July/1st week of August
Hi Guys
We (family of 4; 2 x Adults, 1 x 14 year old and 1 x 9 year old) are planning to visit Kerala(1st time) during last week of July /1st week of August for a week. We plan to fly from Delhi – Cochin and would like to visit periyar, Quilon, take a house boat trip perhaps from Quilon to Allepy. Looking for any ideas or suggestions in terms of any tour companies, accommodations, schedule and activities. KTDC was recommended to us, but they have not advertised packages beyond March 2009.Would it be too much to include Munnar in this schedule? |

I am not sure from your post, whether you have done enough research on Kerala, that time of the year. It is monsoon season and will be raining unless you are lucky. So there will be lot of inconvenience and You are well aware of that. If you already knew all the pros and cons, enjoy your vacation. WT |

Check weather and transportation situation before you go
Let me bump this up. Other kerala experts will address your quest
Check weather and transportation situation before you go. If it is raining heavily, then the entire coastal kerala going to be too wet to do any outdoor activities. Specially, with kids it may not be a great idea. Other kerala experts will address your question related to what is best during monsoon in Kerala. |

Hi - July end to august is surely going to be raining cats n dogs in Kerala. Remember that if the rain is anything more than a drizzle, then houseboat operator will refuse to move the houseboat. It might be a bit of an anti-climax, booking a house boat, and having to sit inside a "parked" boat.
Maybe, you should come here and depending on the weather that day, book the boat. I do not suggest booking that in advance due to the weather. Munnar is possible. It is just 5 hours drive from Cochin and I have done Munnar-Quilon-Alleppey-Cochin including houseboat ride in 6 days. And I was not traveling all the time. It was a rather relaxed tour. Any other questions? Lemme know |
