| Kerala early November Hi all, After a while looking through this excellent website and kidding myself that 2 weeks would be enough to do both North and South India, yes I am incredibly naive, I came to the conclusion that Kerala would be a good place to explore for a couple of weeks at the start of November. I was wondering whether this is a good time to visit the area, and if so if 2 weeks is a good amount of time to set aside to cover the whole of Kerala? I enjoy photography, and from what I've read Munnar and the Kerala backwaters seem to be the places of choice in Kerala, does anyone have any high recommendations of what to choose over a 2 week period? Just trying to get a few ideas together at the moment, so any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks | |

| Good day & welcome to IM, You should get a pretty good idea of what to see & do by Browsing the Kerala sub forum in Forums section. And Yes 2 weeks should be enough to have a decent look around. vandy ![]() | |

| Hello Stevo and welcome to indiamike Are you travelling alone? Have you visited somewhere similarly different from London? What's your total daily budget? (after air fares)

| Thanks for the response guys, have invested in the 'rough guide' kerala to try and get a feel of the sort of things, it is certainly on the more budget end of things rather than the luxury, 2 people going, and maybe looking at budget of £50.00 p/p a day to include lodging, is this realistic? I have not visited anywhere like India before, only really done the Western World and want to venture to see different cultures. From what I have read so far November seems like an ok time to go, is this about right? Again thanks for your help | |

| No time to reply at the moment, but £50 a day is a big budget, £50 per person (if sharing rooms) is huge. | |

| £50 is huge money for a days budget. You can get decent accomodation and after all expenses you will still be left with some bucks. | |

| Hi. You can cover Backwaters-Thekkady-Munnar For backwaters you can take the ride from Kumrakom (16 Kms from the city of Kottayam) to Allepey. couple fo days in the backwaters is a good way to begin. you can visit Kumarakom bird sancutary and Bay island Driftwood museum as well (at Chakranpadi) during this trip as both are between Kumarakom and Allepey. (check http://www.greatholidayideas.net/hol...in-kerala.html) At Thekkady you can visit the Periyar wild life reserve. And also do a few days planation stay. You can stay in Vandanmedu, a small hamlet which is the world's largest cordamom producer. Munnar is a good bet for your last leg. For wildlife at Munnar you can visit Eravikulam National Park and Chinnar wildlide sanctuary. Devikulam hill which is situated about 7 kms from Munnar is another good place to visit while at Munnar

| I spent three months in India a couple of years ago and we were in Kerala during November, generally I'd say go for it. Whilst in Kochi, it was glorious sunshine but not TOO humid, definately a different heat to the North though. HOWEVER, we got to Varkala and a cyclone hit the coast, which was just our luck; lol. There was torrential rain for about two weeks (in the mean time we moved to Allepey and Kumily and then to Hampi). Saying that, it is a beautiful state, and was just a big fat coincidence/unforunate event. Would totally recommend going, beautiful, beautiful place. | |
